About the Book

What does it mean to lead well in the real world?

✦

Over eight decades, Peter J. Briscoe has navigated muddy beginnings, business challenges, personal failures, and moments of unexpected grace. In this honest and engaging reflection, he shares the lessons that shaped his life across family, faith and the marketplace.

From the muddy shores of northern England to the boardrooms of Europe, these stories are filled with humour, hard truths, and the kind of wisdom that only comes through experience.

Part memoir, part masterclass, Follow ... to Lead is a journey through eight decades of seismic shifts.

"Who am I? Why am I here? And how do I bridge the gap between my Sunday faith and my Monday reality — in a difficult meeting, or in the midst of failure?"

Questions Briscoe wrestles with — honestly

Before you can lead others, you must learn to follow —
faithfully, humbly, and often imperfectly.

If you're ready for an honest guide to navigating life, leadership and faith — this book will meet you where you are. And perhaps, help you take the next step.

Peter has left one of the most extraordinary legacies I have witnessed in my lifetime — not only through the organisations he built and the books he wrote, but even more through the countless lives he has impacted.

That is why I believe Follow ... to Lead is essential reading for anyone who wants their life and leadership to have a lasting impact. It is the kind of book that not only inspires you to become a better leader, but also a better person.

With remarkable honesty, humility, Peter's characteristic humour, and practical wisdom, he reflects on eight decades of life and leadership. It is an easy and enjoyable read, yet every chapter is filled with timeless leadership lessons, beautifully illustrated through engaging personal stories.

This is one of those rare books you don't simply read — you absorb it, reflect on it, and return to it. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who desires to lead with character, purpose, faith, and lasting impact.
